‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’ Is the First Disney Song to Top Streaming Songs Chart
'Encanto' also takes the mark for the most songs from a Walt Disney Animation Studios film to appear on Streaming Songs at once.
Encanto’s “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is the most streamed song in the U.S., leaping 35-1 on Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart dated Jan. 15.
“Bruno,” credited to a variety of voice actors from the film – Carolina Gaitan, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero and Stephanie Beatriz – earned 25.2 million streams in the Dec. 31-Jan. 6 tracking period, according to MRC Data.
Its streams ballooned 102% vs. Dec. 24-30, which saw the song accumulate 12.4 million streams – itself a 308% boost from Dec. 17-23, thanks to Encanto’s Disney+ debut on Dec. 24, a month after its limited theatrical run that began Nov. 24.
“Bruno” becomes the first song from a Walt Disney Animation Studios film to reach No. 1 on Streaming Songs, which began in 2013. The previous best, Idina Menzel’s “Let It Go” from 2013’s Frozen, peaked at No. 2 in April 2014, also following its corresponding film’s home video release.
Speaking of Frozen, Encanto bests Frozen’s mark for the most songs from a Disney film to simultaneously appear on Streaming Songs. Frozen boasted three at once, with Menzel’s “Let It Go” joined by Demi Lovato’s version of “Let It Go” and Kristen Bell and Menzel’s “For the First Time in Forever” on the charts dated April 12 and April 19, 2014.
Encanto? Four toward the Jan. 15 survey. “Bruno” is followed by Jessica Darrow’s “Surface Pressure” (No. 3, 18.9 million streams) in the top three, while the other two include “The Family Madrigal,” credited to Beatriz, Olga Merediz and the Encanto cast (No. 41, 6.5 million) and “What Else Can I Do?,” credited to Guerrero and Beatriz (No. 42, 6.4 million).
Concurrently, as previously reported, six songs from Encanto appear on the multi-metric Billboard Hot 100, paced by “Bruno” at No. 5, while the movie’s soundtrack tops the Billboard 200.
