Matt Damon interrupted a black filmmaker to mansplain diversity to her

Matt Damon may have made a major return to Jason Bourne-level hotness, but that doesn't mean he can't occasionally have a cringe-worthy moment.

In the fourth season premiere of HBO's Project Greenlight last night, Damon got into a bit of a tiff with African-American female producer Effie Brown. Well, it wasn't so much of a tiff as Damon talking over her as she tried to raise an issue about diversity.

Brown, who has produced 17 feature films including, ironically, Dear White People, pointed out that the only black character in one of the movies they're mentoring is a prostitute who gets slapped by her white pimp. She suggests that to get better representation in front of the camera, they should think about hiring more people of color behind the scenes.

That's when this happened:

Damon interrupts Brown to tell her that her point is void, because a group of white producers brought up the same issue that she is raising. Yeah, no problem, here.

It's not like Hollywood is severely lacking in diverse directors and producers, as various studies have proven. And it's not like female and black directors have consistently been passed over for more white, male directors. Because white guys obviously know best and can totally just throw a bunch of women and black people onscreen and be done with that whole diversity thing.

Needless to say, Twitter was not happy.

Hopefully Damon will learn from this (he did choose to include this scene in a show that he produces after all). But yeah, take off your white bro gloves, Matt.
